Pets of the week: Sundance loves to go for walks. Felicia is calm and quiet –

JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two of them.

Sundance is a happy, black and white American Staffordshire mix who came in as a stray. He is 3-years-old and gets along with most of his canine neighbors.

Sundance knows some basic commands and is highly motivated by food. Besides the fact that he occasionally jumps up to give hugs, he is such a good boy. If you are looking for a pup who likes to play and go for walks, here is your guy.

Felicia likes hanging out in her cat house napping with friends. She is a quiet, calm 3-year-old tiger cat with white markings.

Felicia is friendly and she gets along well with other cats. She is polydactyl, meaning she has 6 toes. Polydactyl cats were believed to bring good luck to sailors.

A meet-and-greet with a dog is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccines and spay/neutering.

Visiting the shelter is always best, but other adoption resources include online applications at, faxing 517-780-4750 or emailing [email protected].

The shelter’s current hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
