Camila Cabello is officially dishing on her dating life since her split with Shawn Mendes nearly one year ago (yeah, we can’t believe it’s already been that long, either). During an October 18th appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Camila opened up about her single era and what it’s like to be dating again.
The “Don’t Go Yet” singer revealed that she gave online dating a try, but eventually scrapped the idea because people’s “intentions” were unclear when it came to her superstar status.
“I was on a dating app for, like, 24 hours then I left,” Camila told Drew. “The first guy that DM’d me was like, [an] aspiring singer-songwriter from Nashville and I was just like, I feel weird cause somebody could be using me… You don’t know their intentions.”
The 25-year-old, who previously admitted that she wasn’t really “focused” on dating, also told Drew that she prefers a different approach to finding love. “When you are just trying to make friends, you’re gonna meet guys that are vetted by your friends, which is amazing,” Camila explained. That checks out, since Camila was besties with her ex, Shawn for a few years before they became something more.
During her interview, Camila also talked about her Cuban-Mexican heritage and what the holiday season is like with her big family, who inspired her latest album, Familia. If you haven’t already, check out Camila Cabello’s full conversation with Drew Barrymore below:
